Woody

Woody is a simple wooden box on a flatbed truck

The idea of a timber truck came late. Most of the time I wanted to live in a normal van.

I never contemplated about a conventional caravan. All the plastic - disgusting! Then I discovered the Tiny House-movement, these wooden huts on a trailer. It is so independent, with wood you can build almost everything you want. Because I had never really gotten used to the shape of a van, I began to dream of a wooden truck.

Do you want to see how i build the truck? Here we go!

After I worked out the plan and ordered the material, I started cutting the steel in March 2015.

I've never welded before, so I had to learn it first. When I was satisfied with the seams, I started to weld the frame.

We needed a few people to lift the frame on the truck.

The general stability comes from the waterproof plywood. On the floor and the roof I used poplar plywood, on the sides I used birch. It is glued and screwed onto the steel frame.

I also used pine wood for the facade to protect the box from the sun and rain.

After two months of constant work in my grandparents' garden, the box was finished and ready to hit the road. In the following weeks I completed the interior work.

All in all, it took me about half a year and more or less 10,000 euros to complete the caravan. On May 15, 2015, I moved into my new home and on August 6, I started my journey.
